One Power in All Things
Recognizing the One Power in All Things
There are moments when life feels fragmented. We experience ourselves as separate—separate from one another, from nature, from meaning, even from our own sense of wholeness. In those moments, it can feel as though we are navigating the world alone, carrying the weight of decisions, responsibilities, and uncertainty without support.
And yet, beneath that surface experience, there is something else at work.
Across philosophies, spiritual traditions, and human experiences, there is a shared recognition of a unifying force—an intelligence, energy, or Presence that moves through all things. Some call it the Universe. Others call it Source, the One Power, or the Field. Names vary, but the experience points to the same truth: life is not separate.
This is a prayer practice not about asking for something to change, but about remembering what has always been true—that there is one power expressing itself through everything, including you.
What Is the One Power?
The One Power is not distant or abstract. It is not something that exists “out there,” watching from afar. It is the animating force behind breath, growth, creativity, and connection. It is the same intelligence that shapes galaxies and guides seeds to break open underground. It is the same presence that allows your heart to beat without instruction.
To recognize the One Power is to acknowledge that everything arises from the same source. Every person, every living thing, every moment—woven together by an unseen but deeply felt unity.
This recognition doesn’t remove hardship or complexity from life. But it changes how we meet them. Instead of facing life as isolated individuals, we begin to experience ourselves as participants in a larger, benevolent whole.
Prayer, in this sense, becomes an act of alignment—turning our awareness toward the truth of unity.
Why Recognition Matters
When we forget the One Power, life can feel heavy. We carry responsibility as if everything depends solely on us. We resist uncertainty. We struggle against the natural rhythms of change.
Recognizing the One Power softens that struggle.
It reminds us that:
- We are not separate from life’s intelligence
- Support is not something we have to earn
- Meaning exists beyond immediate outcomes
This awareness allows us to move through the world with greater trust—not blind optimism, but a grounded confidence that life is coherent, even when it is complex.
A Prayer Practice for Recognizing the One Power
This practice is simple and accessible. It can be done anywhere—during a quiet moment, while walking, or even in the midst of uncertainty.
Step 1: Settle and Arrive
Begin by pausing. Let this pause be intentional.
Bring your attention to your breath—not to change it, but to notice it. Feel the rise and fall of your body. Feel the contact between your body and the surface beneath you.
This is your way of arriving in the present moment, where the One Power is always accessible.
Step 2: Acknowledge the Field
Silently or out loud, offer a simple acknowledgment:
“I recognize the One Power moving through all things.”
You are not trying to convince yourself of anything. You are simply naming a possibility and allowing your awareness to open to it.
Notice what happens when you consider that the same intelligence that moves the stars also moves through you. That your breath, your thoughts, your presence are expressions of the same source that animates everything else.
Step 3: Expand Awareness Beyond the Self
Gently widen your awareness.
Imagine the One Power moving through:
- Your body
- The space around you
- The people you know
- The natural world
- The unseen systems that sustain life
You don’t need to visualize this perfectly. Simply sense the idea of connection rather than separation.
A quiet prayer you might use:
“May I see the same power in myself, in others, and in the world.”
Step 4: Rest in Benevolence
The One Power is not neutral or mechanical. When people speak of it across cultures, they often describe it as benevolent—life-affirming, generative, supportive of growth.
Allow yourself to rest in that idea.
You might say:
“I trust that this power is for life, for growth, for unfolding.”
Let this trust settle not as a thought, but as a feeling. A loosening. A sense that you don’t have to brace against life in quite the same way.
Step 5: Listen Without Expectation
Prayer is not complete without listening. This doesn’t mean waiting for words or instructions. It means allowing space for insight, calm, or clarity to arise naturally.
You may notice:
- A feeling of peace
- A shift in perspective
- A softening around a concern
Or you may simply notice stillness. All of it is part of the practice.
Living from the Awareness of One Power
Recognizing the One Power is not a one-time realization. It is a way of seeing that deepens with practice.
Over time, this awareness begins to shape daily life:
- Relationships feel less adversarial.
You begin to sense shared humanity beneath differences. - Challenges feel less isolating.
You experience yourself as supported by a larger process. - Decisions feel more grounded.
You’re not forcing outcomes; you’re cooperating with life. - Compassion becomes more natural.
Seeing the same power in others changes how you meet them.
This doesn’t mean life becomes easy. It means life becomes held.
A Closing Reflection
Recognizing the One Power in all things is not about adopting a belief. It is about cultivating a way of noticing—of perceiving unity where we once saw division.
Every time you pause to acknowledge the unifying force that connects everything, you step out of isolation and into relationship with life itself.
You remember that you are not a fragment in a broken world.
You are an expression of something vast, intelligent, and benevolent.
And from that remembering, prayer becomes less about asking—and more about belonging.
